Burnham Market has a long and interesting history. The village is one of the seven Burnhams that once formed a small network of settlements linked to the River Burn, which was used for trade and transport centuries ago. Its roots stretch back to medieval times, and many of the Georgian buildings seen today reflect its prosperity as a busy market centre in the 17th and 18th centuries. The area is also famously close to the birthplace of Admiral Lord Nelson, whose early life was shaped by these Norfolk landscapes.
