Tucked away in a peaceful residential area of the bustling village of Burnham Market, you will find Blackbird Cottage. Owned by Judy and her husband Ted, it is a cherished holiday home that their young family enjoy making memories in. They have renovated it over the past few months and now it is ready for guests, the love and attention to detail is very evident. The garden to the rear is secluded and private, home to the blackbirds that gave the cottage it’s lovely name. So if you are looking for a quiet bolthole in Burnham Market, Blackbird Cottage is for you.

The interior is fresh and calming, and very thoughtfully furnished with a mixture of new and vintage pieces, even using some fantastic retro album covers as decor in the sitting room. The space is well designed and spacious for 6 people, with the really useful addition of a conservatory to the rear, great for rainy day activities or just sitting in the sun on cooler days. The kitchen is, Shaker style, newly fitted with all appliances and a handy breakfast bar.

Three restful bedrooms provide a retreat at the end of the day, with comfortable new beds and quality bed linens. The master bedroom has its own en-suite shower room. A sparkling new family bathroom serves the other two bedrooms.

Outside to the front, which is tucked right away from the road with mature hedges screening the house, is parking for two or three cars. To the rear is a secluded and private garden mainly laid to lawns.

The Location

Where you will be staying

Burnham Market is probably one of the most famous villages in Norfolk. Known for its iconic Norfolk cottages nestled around the village green, with the Goosebec stream flowing right through the centre. Add to this the most wonderful selection of beautifully presented independent shops and quality places to eat, plus being only a few minutes’ drive to the Norfolk coast, you have a pretty perfect base for a holiday.

The Hoste Arms hotel and pub is probably the best known of all the places in Burnham Market but this establishment has now been joined by some very serious places to eat, including Socius, a must when visiting and Number 29 a real experience.

Shopping is second to none in the village with thriving independent shops, each providing something unique or locally produced. Burnham Market is food heaven with Humble Pie Deli providing everything you need for the smartest picnic, their Millionaires Shortbread is, well just go and try it yourself! There are many other incredible places to buy local and artisan produce.

Burnham Market is just a few minutes’ drive to Wells next the Sea and other coastal towns and villages. Lots of information on the village can be found at the Burnham Market website.
